When you hear the words ‘loft conversion’ it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by thoughts of the mess and disruption that such structural work can cause.
But instead of fretting over the temporary inconvenience that you might face, why not see it as the ideal opportunity to make some other important upgrades to your property at the same time?
Mr and Mrs Scott-Stevens, of Thorley Park, Bishop’s Stortford, did just that. They came to us a few months ago with plans to renovate their entire first floor and turn their loft into two extra bedrooms with an adjoining WC.
Doing both projects at once meant that they saved time, hassle and money, increasing their property’s capacity from three bedrooms and one bathroom to five bedrooms, one bathroom, one en suite and one WC. During the course of the renovations we installed a timber truss roof structure, an unvented Megaflo hot water system, dormer windows and a 12-step staircase with glass panelling in place of a traditional wooden banister, giving the new loft room an open, expansive feel that many modern rooms would struggle to match.
The original drawings for the loft room WC didn’t work as well in practice as they should have done, so we revised them and put together a much more suitable option that still ticked all of the clients’ boxes. The pictures below demonstrate the extent of the work required, and our designs focused on transforming the interior of our clients’ home, without creating an eyesore on the exterior.
Mr and Mrs Scott-Stevens are delighted with the extra space and value that we’ve added to their lovely family home, and we are proud to put our name to this Bishop’s Stortford loft conversion.
